QA Engineer
Software Engineer

 

QA Engineer 1 position available in the Austin office   As the Quality Assurance Engineer you will be a member of a small team and therefore must possess solid skills in software testing and verification. Duties and responsibilities include the full testing of software, documenting discrepancies, and providing feedback to developers. You must also have high attention to detail, be goal-oriented, and be able to work with minimal guidance.   Responsibilities Plan and execute a full software quality assurance program, including testing and documenting discrepancies. Create reliable work plans with estimates, schedules, and technical and resource dependencies fully comprehended. Excellent technical and problem-solving skills. Work with minimal guidance and with substantial latitude for independent action. Communicate effectively both verbally and in written form to create and convey complete and concise design information. Experience Required 4+ years experience in testing and verifying software. 2+ years of experience developing tests using test automation tools. Practice in Spiral, Agile and/or XP software development methodologies. Startup experience is strongly desired. Experience with Java technology including Apache Tomcat and other application servers is strongly desired. Bachelors degree in Computer Science or Equivalent. Local Candidate Preferred. Software Engineer 1 position available in the Austin office   As a Software Engineer, you will be responsible for design and development of user interfaces, new features, and/or other core components of ESP’s Java-based web applications. You will be a member of a highly skilled development team creating products for ESP’s state-level education customers. You will work in a close-knit environment where teamwork and trust are highly valued. This is an opportunity to develop products in a small but established company experiencing steady growth. This position reports to the VP of Product Development.   Responsibilities Design and develop new product features in Java utilizing mature open source tools. Possess a solid understanding and experience in developing object-oriented three-tier web applications. Exhibit excellent technical and problem solving skills. Plan and execute challenging development and design assignments within and across projects. Create reliable work plans with estimates and technical dependencies. Work with modest technical guidance and with latitude for independent decision-making. Communicate effectively both verbally and in written form. Experience Required 5+ years experience in object-oriented analysis and design and development. 4+ years of deep Java development experience. Practice in Spiral, Agile, and/or XP software development methodologies. Startup experience is strongly desired. Experience with SQL and open source Java technology including the Spring Framework, Hibernate, and Velocity is strongly desired. Have a bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
